you need to know the elemtns on the periodic table. it's not as hard as you think 'cause most of them aren't used. Just need to know the atomic mass and how many electrons they have, i think. I dont' remember ,really. When you have to name compounds based on a formula.. that was the hardest part that I remember. I never studied, I did do the homework though. It wasn't graded, but it's the only way to learn.
