oh yeah dude, I read that strongman article on Longform yesterday.
pretty good article about the morality and business of steroids... the moral of the story was, from the president of the Arnold show himself, was "the first year we held this thing in Columbus (just like every year after, I guess) and the first three nights were a bust. A few family members showed up. Then that third night, on a Saturday, a news scandal broke of 8 or 9 of the 10 top people testing positive for 'roids. Sunday the house was packed...." then he ends the quote with something like "what's that tell you?" "People want to see the biggest and strongest regardless of how they get those attributes"
That strongest man, tore his bicep tendons, no idea how he could continue competing, and even finished after his entire muscle was done (even if for only a few seconds, but still, a 900 lb barn door thing up a ramp. fuck that)
You think hockey players are strong willed? Man, those strongmen are out of this world. for a measly 55,000 paycheck. I'll take a pass.
