this comment sums up the movie:

I wouldn't even rent this on DVD.

almost 3 long hours. The longer the movie the better,. Hell No!!!

We all just wanted it to end.

Endless scenes of seemingly dramatic dialog that went absolutely no where! no connection to the next scene! no continuity at ALL!!! So F*ckn chopped up.

All my pals said LAME at the same time.!!!
Hey Jim, i wouldnt' read below if you haven't seen the Dark Knight Rises and want to:

Bruce Wayne does not die at the end of the movie<http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_batman_die_in_the_dark_knight_rises#> he somehow survives the explosion, and that is seen when Alfred sees Wayne and Selina kyle in a restaurant, Bruce did this purposely to let Alfred see what he wanted to see, Bruce Wayne himself survives, but the cape and cowl are put up permanently so Batman does in a way "die" without losing his life

Here's the problem that I have with this statement: Alfred explicitly stated that he had dreams of seeing Bruce Wayne in Italy sitting at a cafe and they would look at each other but wouldn't say anything. (If it wasn't dreams, it was thoughts.. something that wasn't real.) So at the end of the movie, it wasn't real. That's the way that I took it.

Also, as the Bat Plane thing was flying out over the ocean, there's only 5 seconds left on the bomb. This could just be an editing trick to fool the viewer, maybe there was autopilot, who knows. In the Comic Book with the same name of the movie, Bruce Wayne fakes his own death to kill off Batman and then he trains future heroes to protect Gotham City. That's probably what Nolan was doing with this film, but still - There's no way he escaped that bat plane if he was in it with the bomb. I didn't see the Bat Plane (I know it's called the "Bat" but that's a silly name) take off with the bomb, so I can't attest as to whether he was in it or not. Silly film editing to produce the desired ambiguous effect.
you guys probably won't see this until next weekend even though i'm sending on Monday morning at 1 am.

NCAA

As part of the NCAA's sanctions handed down on Monday, 112 Penn State wins were vacated. Paterno was credited with 111 of those, and reached the Division I record of 409 last Oct. 29 with a win over Illinois. Late the following week, Sandusky was charged, and Paterno was fired in the aftermath.

What does removing Joe Paterno's wins have to do with any illegal activity not related to football? i dont' get it. Yeah, Paterno hushed up the Sandusky stuff, but he was still a coach. That's not moral. Two wrongs don't make a right.

As a future candidate to attend a nurse anesthesia program, it is vital to understand exactly what nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) do for their patients. From my basic understanding of the roles of a CRNA, he or she provides anesthesia care for patients before, during, and after surgery. The CRNA obtains the patient's medical and surgical history prior to surgery via reading the medical chart and talking directly with the patient, if possible. Then, the CRNA develops a plan for the anesthesia care. After providing the patient with an airway and administering the anesthesia, the CRNA's role is to monitor the hemodynamics of the patient. The way I tend to think about this is that the CRNA monitors and maintains the (NORMAL? ADEQUATE?  Some descriptive word I would add) physiology of the patient while the surgeon handles the anatomy. They do this by continuously monitoring the patient's responses to the surgery, pain, and medications by observing the patient and his or her vital signs, hemodynamics, and neuromuscular checks. The medications the anesthetist manages are titrated, sometimes constantly, to address these factors. As one CRNA said to me during a shadowing experience, "Most of the time, as long as I prevent a disaster from happening, what I do is mostly routine." Other important roles of the CRNA include advocating for the patient, working as a team member, and

I want to become a CRNA for several reasons. First, I accept the challenge and the responsibility of the role of student and future nurse anesthetist. I understand that the academics and clinical portions of anesthetists, for both students and certified professionals, can be rigorous and demanding. It requires excellent time management, studying skills, critical thinking, accountability at home and at the work/school place, continuous education in the health care field, and teamwork and communication skills. I can honestly say that the financial rewards of completing a nurse anesthetist program, while they may play a miniscule role, does not interest me as much as the challenge, responsibility, and autonomy of the role of CRNA. Also, I have never met a CRNA, literally (DOUBT YOU NEED THAT WORD), in any organization who has not enjoyed his or her career. Maybe I have met a small enough sample of CRNAs that does not include an unhappy one, but

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDwwAaVmnf4 hahahahaha, and he wants to be President?

http://www.gq.com/news-politics/politics/201208/mitt-romney-wells-tower-gq-august-2012?currentPage=4 this article does a great job of Bashing Romney. Pretty funny at times, at least in a subtle way. "I love the hymns of America" hahaha, that's a great subtle joke.

The author does a better job of showing his own humanity than Romney does, and it's only words!

Actually, I guess there is something I'd like to ask him, something I think a lot of us would like to know. If I weren't absolutely certain that the rest of the press pool would pummel me for taking up valuable avail time, I'd go: "Uh, yeah, you really have weather-vaned quite a bit over the course of your career—you know, abortion, gay rights, health care, etc. And it really does seem as though the one thing that's stayed consistent about you is your relentless ambition, which I and lots of other people suppose is a kind of by-proxy redemption of your father's failed bid for the presidency. I know you loved your father enormously, and so that makes sense. But if your father was important enough to inspire you to run for president, why does his centrist legacy seem to affect your own Weltanschauung not at all? George Romney once lamented that the GOP was increasingly regarded 'too much as a business party.' He also, according to Kranish and Helman, wrote a letter to Goldwater on the subject of civil rights in which he said, 'The rights of some must not be enjoyed by denying the rights of others,' a philosophy hardly consonant with your stance on gay marriage or, for that matter, your conviction that it's okay for enormously wealthy people like yourself to be taxed at a lower rate than working folk. Is he wrong or are you?"

Hahahahaha, this guy really rips on Romney.

My nascent, unanticipated love for Romney solidifies when a bird smashes into the window and everybody jumps, and Romney—in the middle of fielding a question about Santorum, says totally off the cuff: "He's trying to get in. Do not let him in." Meaning Santorum, maybe?

hahahahaha

gm

gm connected

EA SPORTS NHL has always been a social game for me and the game is at its best when one of my friends is on the other side of the faceoff circle.  When I was in high school in Kelowna, British Columbia, playing with friends meant having to go over to someone's house. With that being said, it shouldn't come as a surprise that my favorite addition to NHL 13 is the GM Connected mode, a gameplay option that takes the traditional Be A GM mode and puts it online allowing gamers around the world to join together to manage teams in their own virtual NHL.

NHL producer Andy Agostini headed up the development of GM Connected and explained, "When we started the year we discussed what we wanted to add to the NHL franchise and thru viewing user feedback we knew that an Online Dynasty is one of the most requested features. We also knew that Be a GM is the NHL franchise's number one most played mode. Essentially, what we've done is taken all the best things from Be a GM and combined them with Online Team Play the base for our popular EA SPORTS Hockey League, creating the largest online dynasty mode ever."

How many people can play in a GM Connected league?

Up to 30 people can each manage their own NHL team in this multi-user NHL dynasty mode and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

With up to 30 human managed teams, the total number of players able to take part in a GM Connected league is 750. Essentially, it's largest online dynasty mode ever in a sports game.

Five Ways to Play

1.       Play against the computer

2.        Play against another GM in head to head play.

3.       Co-Op/Online Team Play – Have friends play with you against the computer or against another team with human-controlled players in up to 6 vs 6 action. (First time ever in a multi-user dynasty).

4.       Build Your AI – New to the EA SPORTS NHL series: Control your team's strategies with all-new systems and bias sliders. Customize and record AI sequences so that your players play your game.

·         This can be set up so that a user who can't make a game against another human controlled team will be able to let the CPU play for them with their strategies in place.

5.       Coach Controls – Be the mastermind behind the bench and control your team's strategies and line changes to help your team to victory. (A quick shoot button allows you to control when your team goes for goal.)

GM Connected: What's your Role?

Users will be able to choose between one of three roles within the league, each one giving them a different way to experience the league:

The Commissioner

Each league will have one Commissioner. The Commissioner will also run a franchise in the league.

The Commissioner creates the league, manages the invitations to the league and confirms join requests.  The Commish also sets up the schedule of when the games are to be played and how long each round is.  The commissioner can set each round to represent between 3 days and 2 weeks, allowing for more or less playable games per round.

Once the league is up and running the Commissioner's job isn't done.  He is the one in control of moving the schedule forward in the league by advancing the league and simulating any games that have not been played to the next round of games. Just like the real NHL, all trades and free agent signings also have to be approved by the league, which in GM Connected falls to the Commissioner.

The Commissioner is not all powerful. If he is abusing his power as Commissioner, the league's GMs can vote to have him removed. The GM who initiates the vote, if successful, will then become Commissioner.

General Manager

A league can have between one and 30 General Managers, each vying to lead their team to success.  As with previous GM modes in the EA SPORTS NHL series, a team's GM is in charge of building the team via trades, free agent signings and the draft.

A GM can both be a player on his team as well as recruit up to twenty-four friends to play with him in co-op or Online Team Play.

 Players

The role of a player is quite a bit more traditional.  Marshaled by their General Manager their task is to show up at game time to play their part on the ice.

As with existing Online Team Play modes, the players in a GM Connected league can be vital in helping their team to victory, even if they're not the ones in the boardroom making the deals. Though they might want to suggest deals if it can help them in their player role.

Staying Connected

Staying in touch with everyone in the league is important, especially with so many potential players filling out the team rosters.  In GM Connected there are two different types of messaging to keep everyone in the loop.

"League News messaging is to allow people to send quick messages to the league news 'blog' screen. This allows people to send messages to the Commissioner, All other GMs and to players on their team," Agostini explained via email.

Commissioners and GMs also have private mailboxes which will receive in-game emails about league activities.  These activities include:

·         Waiver alerts – Lets GMs know when a player is available on waivers in case they would like to claim him

·         Free Agent signings – Tells GM if they have won a free agent claim

·         For Commissioners it allows them to see all trades and veto or approve them which will help stop cheating in the league

·         Also gives them the ability to see transactions from around the league as they happen

This messaging system will allow GMs and the Commissioner go through any actionable league related items they have, thus making it an integral part of their experience.

GM Connected Mobile App

Created specifically for GM Connected is the GM Connected Mobile App which will allow gamers to take the league with them when they leave their consoles.  The app will allow them to:

·         View: Team Standings, Player Stats, Schedule, Injury Report, Transactions

·         Trade: Offer trades to other teams,

·         Free Agents: Make offers to free agents

·         Post: GMs can send messages to the Commissioner, other GMs or his team

Drafting

The Entry Draft is done though the creation of a Draft Priority List.  Rather than making players sit through a long draft process we instead allow them to create a list of their draft targets before the start of the Entry Draft and allow the computer to draft for them based on the order of their picks and who remains available.

NHL 13 will have a randomize team rosters option. This will randomize the team rosters so that teams will start out relatively even. That way you can avoid arguments over who gets what team, and nobody has an automatic advantage because of the strength of the team they pick.

GM Brain - The NHL franchise's Smartest GM/Trade Logic Ever

Both GM Connected and Be A GM also benefit from this year's addition of GM Brain, a revamp of the NHL 13 GM AI.  GM Brain causes the computer controlled GMs to act in a more realistic way than ever before. Instead of focusing just on immediate needs, GM Brain allows the AI to evaluate trades and transactions in terms of immediate, short-term and long-term goals that are best for the organization.

Stay tuned, we'll be talking more about GM Brain in a future blog.

Andy Agostini had this to say about the mode, "We know our users always wanted an online dynasty mode but we wanted to provide something different and innovative. I believe with this mode we have done just that. All online dynasty modes have at most 32 users in it but we can have up to 750 players of all skill levels due to the ways people can play and with the roles they can have in the league. We also allow people in different places to play together against other teams or the CPU. Our goal was to create tools to have leagues run their way. If a league wants to trade users to different teams they can do that in GM Connected. If two brothers living in different cities want to play together on the same team or against each other they can do that. It has so many possibilities and with the connectivity of the mobile application it allows you to stay connected to that league 24/7 allowing people to stay engaged with the experience.

Every year as soon as I get home with my copy of NHL I start up a new career as a General Manager, and play that career through to the next year's game is released. With GM Connected I can finally manage my team in a league against my friends around the world.

I'll read this when I get home http://www.esquire.com/the-side/best-month-ever/best-athletes-2012?src=rss#slide-1
Charles Barkley talking:

"You take Karl. Karl needed John Stockton. That's not a knock on Karl; it's just a fact. I could get mine any time I wanted to. So I'll say it on the record: I was better than Karl. Nothing against Karl. He was great. But I was better. The only thing he did better than me was score, and that came down to John Stockton."

[Dream Team Excerpt: The greatest game nobody ever saw<http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/magazine/07/23/usa-basketball-game-nobody-saw/index.html>]

I ask Charles how much better he would've been had he dedicated himself to conditioning like Malone.

"I always laugh when I hear that," says Charles. "There are four guys who got 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists. So I'm saying, 'What the [expletive] else could I have done if only four guys did the [expletive] I did?' Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem and me."

(Actually, Charles has the number and the players wrong. Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Malone, Barkley and Kevin Garnett are the five players in this exclusive club.)

Work sucks, they blocked the portable web browser site. I knew they would eventually, only lasted maybe two months. Surprised they didn't crack down on it sooner.

Any new news on that GM Connected?

There was a really good article I read earlier about some 17 year old football player that killed himself after a concussion, decent article. really good propaganda for not wanting your child to play contact sports, that's for sure. washington post article, I think.

Hey Sean, critique this essay for me. Tell me what I could change. (it's not finished, yet)

The way that I tend to think about this is that the CRNA monitors and maintains the physiology of the patient while the surgeon handles the anatomy. They do this by continuously monitoring the patient's responses to the surgery, pain, and medications by observing the patient and his or her vital signs, hemodynamics, and neuromuscular checks. The medications that the anesthetist manages are titrated, sometimes constantly, to address these factors.

It requires excellent time management, studying skills, critical thinking, accountability at home and at the work/schoolplace, continuous education in the health care field, and teamwork and communication skills. I can honestly say that the financial rewards of completing a nurse anesthetist program, while they may play a miniscule role, does not interest me as much as the challenge, responsibility, and autonomity of the role of CRNA. Also, I have never met a CRNA, literally, in any organization that has not enjoyed his or her career. Maybe I have met a small enough sample of CRNAs that does not include an unhappy one, but

Talking about martin St. Louis:

The 37-year-old started with sumo deadlifts: four 300-pound reps. With no rest, St. Louis progressed to 10 walking lunges with 65-pound dumbbells tucked in each fist. To conclude the set, St. Louis dragged backward, for 50 yards, a sled stuffed with 14 45-pound plates. After a three-minute rest, St. Louis performed the three-exercise circuit again.

In total, St. Louis performs four sets. After that, a 50-second shift against the Eastern Conference's big boys sounds like a vacation.

"The whole workout probably only takes 45 minutes," Prentiss said. "But he'll tell you it's the hardest thing he ever does."

That would be tough, but man taht would be fun.  45 minutes of intense workout.  I gotta start pushing myself to rest less and workout more.  I usually take about 4 minutes in between sets.  On Tuesday, I might go shorter rests, especially on squats. Those squats make my legs feel tight and tired for quite a while.. One time i took a 5 minute rest and my legs didn't feel any differnt, I did the squats with no problem.  I guess it's all mental.  Getting injured is always in the back of my mind which sucks.

easports.com/nhl has a game play video released today I believe.

man, that figure skating is truly gonna make that game awful.

thats all that game is man.
played a game of hockey earlier.  the first 4 goals I felt like it was a real hockey game, then a few cross creases cuz the guy sucked at D.

won 6-1.

first 2 or 3 were shooting from the point and getting rebounds to a wide open net.  nothing lame about that.  oh yeah, 3rd goal up come up with Zetterberg (wings against penguins, or I take Kings against anyone else) and deke to the right, he comes back with his D man and I use him as a screen, too easy.,
all i can say is that that guy obviously used his Dmen too much and took them outta position a lot.  The really good players don't use their Dmen on the rush which takes away most cross crease attempts.. either that or they'll use the weak side Dmen to stay in the slot to cover it. It's basically impossible to get the cross crease either way, makes for really low scoring games. i had two games in a row that went 1-1 into OT. when the D is tight, the scoring is low and every goal matters.  i havent' played since wednesday.

ok, so played a guy with similar stats as me.  60 wins, 20 losses, he has higher GF and GA.

he starts off with a PS and takes the lead.

Me?

I won 7-1.  HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

hatties for Carter and Richards.  2 shorties to start the game.

pretty much every goal was a cross crease.  1 PS and one whwere hte cross crease didnt work, but the puck was at Bryzzie's pad and Carter puters er home.  pretty much a crosse crease tht took an extra touch.

guy was curving in and out on D, makes it SO easy to skate in the zone and do stuff.

he bsaically had no D to lose that bad.

level 35.

should i go watch batman this weekend? 80 on metacritic, 82 for the 2nd movie (the dark knight) which was supposedly even better.. but only by 2? hm.. i might go watch, we'll see. unless i can find a good video quality stream, muahahaha
Supposed to be 90% Thudnerstorms at 7 pm, 100% at 8 pm, gonna be a fun ride home tonight.
100 millionish over 14 years or 12 years to weber? seriously? no way the pens would pay that much especially to have to give up three 1st-rounders or maybe even 4.

anyway, so it's supposed to thunderstorm today like it did yesterday. I brought my bike in, and it's supposed to rain intermittently the next 36 hours or something. no way i'm bringing my car to work on a weekday in the summer - gotta park on top of the hill and walk down instead of parking right next to the entrance. I'll brave the rain, I guess. we'll see how bad it rains today then go from there.

Hey Jim, when you called last night I was sleeping. Ill talk to you on Saturday, gotta work today and tomorrow, and i plan on doing homework tonight and tomrorow night so i can enjoy the 4 day weekend, study for the GREs on Tuesday, go to the gym etc. I can't use that plan you gave me yet 'cause of my shoulders. Good workout plan, though. Too many bicep workouts in there.. my biceps get extremely tight when I work them out with moderate weights so I haven't been doin' those for 2 months now. I was thinking I might start going to the gym on off days when not doing legs and back do work my shoulders , biceps, triceps slowly and with really light weight. we'll see.
