i calculated our gas expenditure savings using hte Prius comapred to heather's beetle.

 

at a price of $3.70 a gallon, we save $15-$21.  leans higher towards $20.

 

if we get 45mpg we save $26 a tank.  thats ridiculous. if gas is 3.9, which it was last week (think it went down to 3.7) its $27.5 savings.

 

we get roughly 1.5 more miles per tank.  doesnt really matter, for now the savings goes towards the loan or insurance.  insurance doubled from the beetle, so if we put 10,000 miles on the priu,s we save roughly $350.  thats about half the increased insurance.  not bad.  a month at the blood plasma center pays the rest.  my language pay pays 70% of the loan every month. blood place will more than cover the rest. 

 

probably gonna have the car paid off by next year's taxes.  have about 7000 left in student loans.  ill worry about that afterwards, get this insrance down first.
