http://theamericanscholar.org/the-disadvantages-of-an-elite-education/ good article
who wins? let me walk you throug hthis shootout

1) Neal , 5 hole, too easy.

2) Stars guy skates to the right and shoots top left, Fleury says "fuck"

3) Malkin goes up middle, skates left, has a wide open net but shoots it too late top shelf, hits the leg pad i think. no goal

4) some loser Stars guy goes up the middle and shoots bottom middle more to the left, fleury was kinda dumbfounded but quickly put his leg down for the save

5) Kunitz goes up middle, completely sells the top left shot and then goes backhand top shelf. even I was sold on that one.

6) Jamie Benn does the #2 guy's play, skates right and goes top left. Fleury says "fuck" again

7) Dupuis is 0 for 2 in the shootout this year, goes middle left, right above the leg pad.

8) stars guy shoots it middle right I believe, doesn't matter, no dice.

PENS WIN BABY

stars just had a shit load of zone time.  a delayed penalty halfway through, too, kept it going.  i'd say 2.5 minutes, no idea tho.

that insantiy abs looks like a great workout, though I can't do some of them 'cause it involves shoulder movements such as the A crunch thing, not sure what he called it. I'm gonna do it on Friday, have to replace those shoulder movements with more basic ones until my rotator cuff heals more. They're better than 2 days ago, still gonna be a while. I'm always gettin' injured, makes no sense.

24/7 isn't bad. fell asleep watching episode 4 last night around 430, means i'm gonna be really tired tonight at work.

Pens have same amount of points as bruins, one more game though. Ottawa has more 4 more games than Pens in 5th with one less point. Damn, Stars are tied for 8th place iwht Avs and Kings, all have 70 points but Stars have one less game, they pretty much have to win tonight.

Wow, watching the end of episode 4. How the fuck? 1.5 minutes left or so, Callahan gets hooked around the armpit/neck and the ref calls him for a penalty for "grabbing and holding" the stick there.. Callahan is obviously fucking pissed, I would be, too. Jeez,I remember watching it but don't remember the details. No wonder Tortorella made the comments that got him fined after the game. Jesus Fuck, a penalty shot for that? wow, I remember that. NO fucking way, man, that was obviously rigged. Those refs were told to make it more suspenseful or were bought out by bookies or something.

They always show Lundquist when showing the team walking to the plane/bus/hotel/rink or wherever they're going. Hard to believe he's only 29. Looks older, probably the facial hair. After watching this show, I don't think I could call him Dumbquist anymore. He's a pretty cool dude. Still got episode 3 to watch, I'll do it some other time.

no idea if i passed that test. those questions are ridiculous. confuse me a lot.  im hoping for a 2. we'll see.  \

sergeant was talking to me like I dont study or anything.  I told him straight up that NOTHING, and i mean NOTHING< will help someone pass the lsitening DLPT besides doing practice questions AT THE SAME LEVEL OR ABOVE.  and class does not do that.

those questions are hard, and NOTHING I've ever done outside of my own practice or the DLPT has ever come close to replication the attention to detail required to passing it.

why i got a 2+ coming out of DL, istening a crap load for 2 months.  why i did 90 questions last night, which were all easier than the first ffricken question on the test. haha. not good practice, but its something, and still better than class.

41 passages in 2 hours. classs is 50 minutes, so say you get 17 passages in 50 minutes on the DLPT, enough time to look at the questions, listen, and answer.  class: lucky if you get through two passages....and no questions similar to DLPT, usuallyu open ended like "what did this guy do" and then u have to know simply from listening, no question/answers to help.  you might learn a few words, but you dont get the attention to detail required to asnwer the questions.

ryan here

did some squats with 50 lbs, too easy but i can't push it too hard yet.  also did some straight leg raises with like 10 lbs, 50 reps x 3 sets for the hip flexors, did some leg adduction for my IT band - felt OK but they're definitely weak which is most likely why my IT bands are hurting.

shoulders are interesting. sometimes they spasm, other times they feel inflamed, and at times they feel normal.  mustn't be too bad, but bad enough that I gotta let 'em reset a bit.

did 50 lb. deadlifts, 30 of 'em a pop.  Felt like nothing, wasn't really even a workout.  I don't have any heavier weights so I'm stuck wtih that for the next month.

leg extensions too keep my hip flexors, glutes, IT band strong.  gotta go stretch some more
watched 24/7 episode 1 this morning. downloaded 2-4, gonna watch later.   definitely good production quality, entertainment value.  the best parts are when they make a story out of the games - some personal rivalries and the communication on the ice.

what's this about a suit? probably won't happen, we'll see
Amazon has the Old Republic for $40 free shipping.  I'd buy it if I had a computer

daaaaang, I think Vancouver's taking the cup. They got a heavyweight fighter, a faceoff guy who will take away some of the pressure from Kesler so he can work his offensive magic.

Nashville also got two quality players.

And, of course, LA got Carter.

West is taking the Cup this year. Vancouver. I'm calling it now. Unless Sid comes back, then Pittsburgh vs. Vancouver for the ultimate showdown. What a Finals that would be.

so i can do this for PT tomorrow, since i have an indoor profile cuz of all the pollen..hha, really i have a cold - going away, plus my calves still fuckin hurt like hell - so i get to do my own PT .  gonna kill my abs tomorrow.

i did a set of situps today.  jesus, my hip flexors dont cooperte too well.  well, it doesnt help that im using two barbells weights to hold down my feet. i alwys keep my feet at 45 degree angles, with the barbells you have to use your legs a lot more.  fuck that, i wanna use my abs.

my body is fricken ripped man.  no way i should have any problems with situps.

fricken tore apart my tricpes today, too.  thursday im gonna do a bunch of pushups, maybe some dips and triceps, get ready for the PT test next week so i can be exempt.

no reason I cant do it.

insane abs below, the workout regimen.  looks pretty fricken hard man. a lot of great workouts though, should loosen my hip flexors some.  i stretch them out everyday too. probably need to stretch em more.

on the way home from hockey last night i was comin up the road to our house, 50 mph or so.  i saw a car up ahead that appeared to be going pretty slow.  i was accelerating pretty quick though so I dont know.  i assumed correctly that dashed lines would appear, and after an oncoming car passed there they were.  vrooom vroooooooom i pass the car going 60 in a 45.  i look over and notice its a cop.  fuck man, i sit up instantly.   he has his flashlight going, pointed forward.  then he turned.

haha.

my bike. i got 216 miles for 3.67 gallons.  thats like 59mpg.  58.85   thats pretty typical.

wow, Ryan Lambert agrees:
There are, realistically, five teams in the NHL who look as though they could get deep into the playoffs and legitimately compete for a Stanley Cup. They are, in no particular order, the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks.

then he gets it wrong,

please keep in mind that the days of Marian Hossa moving at the deadline are over. All that is going to take place at the draft from now on.

how would anyone "know" that as "fact"?

didnt get drafted in the A league.

works out better anywya, thursday is a better night.

and Ill get more puck time, booooooom.

the Trine game must be short. on level 11 of 15.   someone online said about 5 hours.

Gotta work tonight. feel like crap with this staying up late and not getting enough sleep. haven't eaten anything in almost 24 hours. not even hungry.

no big trades in the NHL. well, none worth mentioning.  Tampa was in 3 trades, i think. who cares

A can of tuna is about 30g of protein.. dependso n the brand, it's 12 or 13g multiplied by roughly 2.5 (5 oz. in a can, 12or13 grams per 2 oz.). by far the cheapest source of protein.

no looking forward to staying up . gotta do it on wednesday and thursday, too.

ate a can of tuna and 6 pieces of break, 3 sandwhiches.

not sure how much protein is in the tuna, its 2 servings of probably 13g.  6x4g for bread, after another workout of 8 and 6 reps of 210 chest, then 10 and 10 100 lb triceps, and 10 and 3 dips, plus 50 more on the ab machine plus 60 leg lifts.

im sore.  last 3 dips I couldnt do it anymore.

calves get extremely sore after sitting for a while. been stretching them, almsot feels like an injury, shouldnt be hurting this bad at all.

forgot to bring my shake today, sucks.

gonna re enlist in april, maybe 4 years, get a nice 10-15000 bonus, pay off my student loans, car, and have heather's bonus as cash.  we'll see what happens.

got a 1+ on this diag.  you have to manually type the naswers, of course its not accurate.  i know probably a 2 level.  be nice to get a 2+.

malkin or mario?

guess the results then click away...not even close man, not even close....people are idiots.

Re: [Madness Writers] 2/26/2012 10:32:00 PM

responded as steigy. haha.

claerly a goal, no other way to call that.  like i posted, gotta be a complete idiot to think otherwise  people calling in the rulebook as evidence...only evidencei need is after the kick the puck 1)changes direction after clearly hitting the pads, 2) accelerates.   doesnt matter how these two things happen,  its a goal.  i dont care if that goalie puts it in, thats an own goal in taht situation, but cogliano clearly sticked it.

180 lbs eh, maybe in a month or so ill put that much down, we'll see.

did 3 sets of 210lb chest press (10, 8, 8 reps). 3 sets of lat/delt chest-armys to the side then forward machine, 120 pounds (9 9 9  reps), 3 sets of triceps 100 lbs (9 9 9 reps). then did 50 reps of the ab machine at 30! lbs.  fricken hard man.  if i can do that though I can passs the PT test with ease.

calfs a little sore still from jumping, i mean Insanity.

i saw the one warm up was jump rope without the rope.  that'd be a good core workout.  maybe that was on teh cardio abs. gonna do that tonight.  going to sick call at 0230, imagine if I was too sick to work...gotta love the army.

locked myself out of the house today .  usually keep my keys in my helmet, forgot to check.  called my sergeant, he waso nthe way to pick me up, then I realized the bathroom window was plastic and glued to the pane.  (let me set this up to make sense).  last week there were security check points coming into work.  made me 5 minutes late every fuckin day except Friday, the only day it didnt happen.  i sually make it to work with a few minutes to spare, 5 or less.  so i was late one day by 1 min.  now since i was late today, for no intentional fault of my own, im getting a negative counseling.  whatever man.

i locked myself out.  and i called at 0600 exact, when i realized i didnt have keys.

would have made it on time otherwise.  oh well.

doing this onluine listening diagnostic test.  lamost done.  hopefully I get at least a 2.  so far I feel confident. last 1/3 though is pretty hard. big tests tomorwo (reading, fricken joke) and wednesday (listening,a ll that matters, wanna get my 200-300 smackers a month for it).

bought 20 lbs. of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein for $180.  Pros and Cons to it.. Most people say it's the best testing.  WHo cares.  Others say that it's not the best 'cause it's not 100% whey isolate.  It was voted the best Protein back in 2005 and 2006, I believe - not sure what it was based on, but still, gotta be a reason it was #1 for 2 years in a row.  All I can say is that there's no way protein technology has improved that much since 2006 that it at least isn't near the top.  Has 5 grams of BCAAs and 4 grams of glutamine which are important (theoretically, anyway) and couldn't be found in any of the whey isolate mixtures I looked up.  People on bodybuilding.com forums were saying they got great muscular gains with it, others were saying any protein will work, some were saying only the isolates work.  Well, people aren't gonna lie about gaining muscles after workouts, that's how I see it.  I was using a cheap ass version of protein myself and my body is definitely much bigger now than it was 3 months ago when I started working out.  Probably a waste of money to buy the cheap stuff, but it would work, at least a little compared to the more expensive stuff.

My rotator cuffs, especially the left shoulder ones, are the problem.  http://www.exrx.net/Stretches/Subscapularis/Broomstick.html  This stretch helps.  Along wtih the next one. http://www.exrx.net/Stretches/Infraspinatus/Broomstick.html  The infraspinatus (2nd link) stretch defintely feels more like a stretch so I'm guessing that's the main problem.Supposedly, it affects chest press and bench press.  I was doing 50 lb dumbbell chest presses in perfect form wtih no problem until afterwards.  Bicep workouts, especialy preacher curls or whatever you call the ones where your arms rest on the padding while you curl.  I couldn't even lift my arms up to my shoulder with lighter weights without a weird feeling in my arms, so I knew it was time to hang it up.

So I'm taking a month off of working out until my body heals.  Sucks, but I gotta listen to it.  Some people online were saying they worked through the pain and are paying for it now, can't raise their arms up.  No shit, sherlock, that's why you don't do that.  I did it wtih my knees back in '06/'07, not going through that again.  The only thing I'll miss is the barbell for doing deadlifts.  I really need to keep doing those 'cause it helps my back out a lot.  I was in a happy routine of working out, cooking every day while off of work, drinking protein shakes.  Now I'm back to doing nothing, and I bet I'll get depressed pretty quickly if I'm not already.  Gotta stay motivated, focus on what I can for now.  Get my knees better, let my shoulders heal, and hit the gym.  I'm gonna slowly get back into my workouts.  I might start avoiding the lat pulldowns even wtih the reverse grip 'cause that's what hurt my shoulder back in '07.  The body can pull the heavy weights, but then it loosens the tissue in my body.  My body just isn't designed for that stuff.

So I guess I'll just focus on abs, back, and a LOT of stretching for the next month.  My hamstrings are fine, gluteal muscles are a bit tight, tensor fascia latae is tight which is causing my IT band pain.. evidently, if the TFL and glutes are tight, that's how you get IT band problems.  Well, back in '08 when I was doing 3 months of physical therapy, my glutes weren't tight at all but my hip flexors were tight and no matter how much I stretched them, they would never loosen up.  I even had the physical therapist stretch them for me 3x a week which hurt like hell but it still didn't solve the problem. and my IT bands were completely loose.  Knees never felt good but they were strong like steel.  Then again, I rarely ever ate, and when I did, it was all shit food.

Emily's birthday was yesterday.  I told her family how I'm done eating junk food, I never really ate much of it before but I have no interest in it now.  So, of course, her mom gives me a huge slice of cake.  They wanna fatten me up , probably to make themselves feel better about being heavier.  I even told Emily today while at Denny's for breakfast that I don't like to go out to eat anymore 'cause that food isn't healthy and it always makes me tired.  eating healthily costs a shitload, though.  I guess you're paying for it either way - eat cheaply and get medical problems, or eat a bit more expensively and be healthy.

Emily's mom was saying I look good with my heavier body and bigger muscles poking through my shirt.  You can't really tell through clothing, maybe it's obvious I work out, but it's not like i'm a bodybuilder.  I couldn't care less about how I look so much as how I feel, and with pain, I feel depressed.  Back pain is by far the worst, but I gotta say that this IT band issue isn't far behind 'cause it's always nagging.  The shoulder pain seems to come and go for now, so it's only a nuisance 'cause it affects all of my workouts.

I wouldn't doubt if that's why Jim has so many joint problems - lifting heavy weights just isn't good for the body.  I could be wrong.  That myofascitis or whatever it's called is no joke, man.  You better get that myeloma taken care of, too, man.  I wouldn't mess with cancer no matter what stage it is, how bad it looks/feels, or how it affects you.  The quicker it gets taken care of, the better results you'll have.  Same goes for any other medical problem, too.

I must be bored typing all of this up.  Trying to stay awake.

Gonna play some of this Trine game to stay up a bit longer.

no apologizes, son.  only excuses

shouolders felt really weak today, really it felt weak in my biceps but my biceps are fine.  so it's gotta be my rotator cuffs that are injured.  i had this happen 3 years ago.  I'll go tomorrow to work on my back and triceps, see how it feels.  Did leg press, 180 lbs.  Felt like nothing, but my legs were like, "you better stop or else you're gonna pay for it" and I didn't feel like opening my wallet of pain.

food'll get you everytime while you're sick.

fell asleep for about an hour after the game.  Dupuis scored to make it 8-1.  the malkin coast to coast goal is on pensblog.  definitely worth a watch.  he turned that 1-3-1 system into a GoTheFuckHomeTampa goal.

yeah i apologize about last night

fell asleep at 7, didnt wake up til my alarm went off at 525.

being sick sucks.  i was out man, nothing i could do about it.  i didnt do PT yesterday, too, which would have definitely made me tired, but i felt great until an hour into Star Wars.  went and got some food and drink in the kitchen, came back, laid down, and lights out.

ipap amedd program, might do it.  Markarian said he is.  ill re-enlist in April, take the science requirement courses in the fall at ASU (very little Army duties during this time, cant beat it), apply for the program and become an officer, training is in Fort Houston Texas.  no idea if there's hockey.

good chance of getting deployed, but who cares man.  thats tax free money  only gotta do it for a few years after a shit load of studies and training.

what do you think?

started Insanity today.  if i wasn't sick I could have done A LITTLE better, but not much.  legs were sore pretty quick, maybe halfway through.  arms were sore from PT all week, did some chest presses yesterday at work. prevented me from doing a few of the last workouts very effectively.

Ironic that Sean T stops working out after a while and "motivates" others.  bullshit. he's tired just like everyone else.

and yeah, those people lose good form pretty quick.

good workouts. might do another before bed, we'll see.  probably niot cuz im going over ot Markarians for a guy's night, play soem video games. we'll play Halo after the game, boooom.

you lie

Fag.... begged the wife to let me on tonight and you didn't show up... gg
Oh, I found the problem. I was going to do barbell shoulder press but I had the barbell behind my head. I think I did maybe 2 or 3 reps and quit 'cause it was too difficult. I'm sure that's what caused the shoulder to hurt. Never doing that again, it's not even good for the rotator cuffs. Bingo!
Ryan here. Think my shoulders need to rest. My left one, anyway. I was doing lat pulldowns reverse grip, usually do 140 lbs 12 times so I figured I'd do 160 lbs.. did 9, 8, and I think 8 the 3rd set. Then I rested for a bit while talking to the older guy in the gym and my left arm started to feel weird. I know I hurt my shoulder once before when doing lat pulldowns so I'm guessing that's what it's from. It could also be from doing shoulder press with the free weight machine. Who knows. Doesn't hurt but feels weaker than it should. Gotta take it easy for a while to let it heal. I'm always getting hurt, doesn't make sense. I'm working out so I don't get injured.
http://www.slate.com/articles/life/map_of_the_week/2012/02/student_loan_debt_an_interactive_map.html

First year full-time St. Francis Students take out an average of 17,600 smackers in loans to pay for it. That's 50% of the costs for the year, I believe. Gonna come out with 70,000 in debt.

Hey Jim, can't find anything on that foot placement thing you're talking about.

Leaving at 730, can't wait.

Re: [Madness Writers] 2/24/2012 01:33:00 PM

My suggestion for a small possible fix to your IT bands giving you issues is:  there is a small foot placement type deal for the squat machine that you can use that will stabalize your legs, with your feet slightly elevated to take possible pressure off of your IT bands.  You would have to use the smith machine because you would be leaning slighty to the rear, but it would still work really well.  I dont know what the step is called but its just a small step maybe 3 inches off the ground and rounded so you can place your feet on it.

Give it a browse you may be able to find what I'm talking about.  When I get some time to sit down here I'll look arorund.

Get those renters by the hook, line, and sinker.

I eat more than 25% of my calories as protein, at least for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is probably 20g protein and .. 120g carbs. maybe 3 g fat total. depends on how much fat is in 2 cups of oatmeal. I have to put brown sugar on it or it tastes like crap.

The rest of the time, I eat chicken, tuna, or low-fat beef wtih either pasta, vegetables, or both. Rice sucks, doesn't have enough protein in it.

I made some kind of beef stir fry last night ,the noodles had 5 g of fat per 1 cup of noodles. nver using those noodles again. Regular pasta doesn't have any fat, i think. could be wrong.. definitely not 5 g.

my poop's never green.

I usually only do one protein shake a day. I sould probably start doing 25g protein shake in the morning as a snack between breakfast/lunch, then do 25 g of protein after working out rather than only 50g of protien right after working out.

I always take 50g of protein to work with me and drink it in the morning over 2-3 hours. Works out well.

http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Quadriceps/BBFrontSquat.html Front Squat. I'd have to try it with relaly low weights to start. My IT bands probably wouldn't like it.. I don't know what to do about 'em at this point. I'd like to do leg press to see how it feels, but I don't wanna risk 1 minute of exercise for 1 month of continued pain. We'll see.

yeah, the personal trainer was .. well, in it for rthe money i believe

never thought to look into craigslist for a workout buddy. not sure i'd want to, i enjoy listening to music and being alone.

We were supposed to have 35 mph winds today, not sure if we did.. inside all day. i remember it gets the most windy during February. it was almost 60 degrees on wednesday, close to 60 yesterday as well. frickin' nice out.

smoe other general trends you're missing in your analysis are: 1) gotta have really good Dmen, especially top line. Anaheim had Scott Niedermayer and Pronger. Detroit had Lidstrom and whoever else. Pens had Gill/Scuderi, plus Letang and Gonch. Chicago had seabrook and keith. Boston with Chara. 2) Really good Goalie playoff performance plays a big part. Ward in 2006 , not sure of his stats, but he evidently played well, sucked in 09.

other stuff i could comment on, deleted the emails though

hahahaha, jets on top of the SE.

James Neal will be on NHL 36. i'll probably give it a view online somewhere.

btw

I didn't get accepted into the beta just yet.  I got my confirmation e-mail.  You may have to send it a few times but I would imagine they will accept your PC because it's not-so-good.  Normally when they accept people for beta tests they pick candidates based on video cards just so they can determine the wide range of pc's and the playing capabilties on different pc's.  They want the feedback from all different kinds.

I tried on all 3 of my computers and got 2 confirmations, just haven't been picked up yet.  If you take the time to go to guildwars2.com and watch one of the gameplay videos, it looks fucking incredible.  It is definitely going to blow all other MMORPGs out of the water just based off of the style that they designed the game.  They designed the game for the player to play the game, not the game to play the player... if that makes any sense.   No gay repetitive grinding etc with an incredible story line, graphical features, and interactive adventures.

I hope I get into the closed beta.

Hey Hey

Hey man, starwars tonight eh?!  Sounds good!

I'm gonna spend a little time with Kim we're gonna watch the new Twilight movie tonight (or kinda new whatever) and I'm gonna clean.  Showing the house tomorrow to someone interested in renting so I want it in tip-top condition lol.

Vehicles are so god damned expensive man... Got the oil changed, tires rotated, differential fluids flushed and engine fluids flushed today and it cost me 350 bucks.... FML

Anyways I looked up some good workout routines for your lower mach pain etc and like I said man... front squats is one of the best exercises to help identify that muscle group and work it.  It may be painful for a little while but it is worth it.  I'll demonstrate on skype or tell ya'll how to do it properly to really help.   I used to do them all the time and it really works the core.  Definitely a must in a good workout routine.  If you guys ever have questions about workouts that work let me know, I know a lot about exercise and I do a ton of research.

btw for the protein questions Ryan.   The best bet, and what I used to do is for every meal (3 of the important meals a day)  I would eat 25% of calories as proteins per meal, then eat a small portion of protein throughout the day (1-3 protein shakes and some beef jerky).  Beef jerky is probably one of the best protein supplements you can eat (just watch for high sodium jerky.... try to avoid that).   You want to make sure you are eating a red meat and pasta at least once or twice a week too, have to have good carbohydrate and calorie intake too... You can't process tons of proteins without them, otherwise you will just shit them out.  Like I said if your shit is really green you aren't processing all of your proteins.

More to come... Gotta change a diaper and get Kaiden off for a nap.
we had hurricane like winds and storm out here today for 5-10 minutes.  couldnt see very far out the window from work. heather said she couldnt see very far ahead of her on the highway.

the winds I'd guess were at least 70mph. probably faster. rain was sideways, some smokers outside under the gazebo were soaked, no protection out there.

crazy stuff.   this new building, 500 million or so to build it.  has a huge crack along the front side. been standing a year or so, operational only 4 months... people in here said its from the storm.  mabye, doubt anyone looked there before so no way of knowing.

hey jim read

u play guild wars 2 yet?

sean here, havent gotten the confirmation email.  doubt i will, my computer sucks.

getting home around 3 today, star wars ALLLLLLL night baby.  maybe do some insanity in there before bed. no PT, boooom.

also, went tot he doc about my cardiology results.  negative, as i guessed.

she said its either muscular, but most likely not since im quite fit.

said its gotta be allergies, and after asking me where my chest hurt exacty said its probably something with my esophagus which is caused by allergies.

makes sense.

she didnt know though, and when I told her harder workouts make my chest feel better..except running which hurts my chest....when i told her that she was dumbfounded.  i dotn understand it myself.

very nice today.  last time must have been slightkly busy, but she was genuinely interested in finding a solution.  was thinking of everything, and the best part was it probably took less time than thsoe doctors who try to rush. a few minutes, thats it.

she asked me if my chest hurt when i eat a lot.  i usually dnt eat a ton at any one time.  thought maybe stomach would itnrude on my breathing or chest or something.  nope.

felt around my chest, slight msucular pain above my sternum, i told her thats muscular but pointed to the center of my chest as the source of the pain. i told her my throat usually feels constricted when i work out hard, too, especialy running.  she mentioned the past 2 weeks were especially bad with pollen.  no joke, Monday during htat 3.4 mile run my motuh was dry as hell and i was coughing for no reason after the ruun.  i even told the sergeant that there must be a lot of pollen in the air for my throat to feel like that, cuz thats a first.

Devils: +50. 31 behind ott.
Ducks: +10. finished 7th.

2002
Wangs: +64, 15 above SJ.
Carolina: Even. Finished 3rd, but in real standings (no divisions) would have finished 8th. wow, that could happen this year, Panthers or Caps in Finals, HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA. how the fuck did Carolina even make the playoffs? only Montreal (8th) had a worse _+ at -2

General trend I see is

-if you finish in the top of your division and have first or second highest +- in your conference you should make it to the finals.

-if you finish outside top 4 in standings you have no chance at the Cup, if you happen to find yourself in the finals

- if you meet both (best standing and best +- in your conference [most likely the league but not necessary]) you probably win the cup. Pitt in 2009 is the ONLY exception, whereas the Ducks in 2007 isnot much of a difference between them and Detroit.

interesting stats.

------

pens lost 2 games to the wild in 1991? thought both cups were flawless in the finals.

------

1967 toronto

1970 Blues two teams with the longest SC drought. odd that Chicago and boston, two of the longest droughts suddenly win cups...

---------

lowest wins for each conference's playoff team by year.
E W
36. 42 2002
35. 36
38. 38
42. 41 2006 after lockout
40. 43
41. 41
41. 41
41. 43 2010
43. 43

need at least 41 wins PLUS 10-13 OT losses. general trend I see for lowest teams.
Pitt would need 7 more wins plus 5 OT losses, and then 10 games remaining. add in 2 moer wins for guaranteed spot. need 9-8-5 record to make playoffs.

teams like flordia, toronto, washington..one of those teams needs a +.500 record to make the playoffs in their last quarter of the season. . wow, flordia already has 12 OT losses.

Re: [Madness Writers] 2/24/2012 09:01:00 AM

depends on teh situation with that trainer.  if im there solely to work out i wouldnt care, just move over and do my thing... but if Im there to get soem advice then I'd be pissed too.

did some research, interesting finds. i ll send it in 2nd email.

"its all business"  who says that.  could have at least acted like a human being.

and I beleive the primary reason of a trainer is a workout buddy.  there to give you moptivation.  anything else you can get on your own.  probably why you see people on craigslist looking for workout buddies...havent checked in a long tiem but i remember seeing a lot of those , never understood why, but makes sense now that i think about it,.

school's a joke.

wow, it really is a race for last. 8 points between 8th and 15th.

i went for a consultation on tuesday with a new personal trainer 'cause it was free. I exlpained to him that I can't afford to pay 'cause of student loans (plus it's not worth it anyway but I'm not telling him that). He wants me to breathe while sitting on an exercise ball so I'm breathing.l. he's like "Breathe" and takes deep breathes so I said "you should be more specific" and then this older owman comes in and says she was the 2 o' clock appointment. He looked shocked, asked, "really? I thought you were 3." Strike 1. So he goes and looks, I'm stretching my hammies. He comes back and proceeds to work out with her, completely ignores me. Strike 2. I wasn't very happy so I grabbed my stuff and was about to go to the other side of the gym to use the dumbbells. The manager was standing there and asked me if I was OK and I said "I'm not very happy right now" 'cause I was pissed. "What, about life in general?" No, this place. I didn't wanna explain so I told him I'd talk to him after I was done working out when I felt better 'cause it wasn't a big deal. I ddi tell him I hate having my time wasted. He kept pressing me until I told him. I told him the situation and that was it. I told him later on that I let my emotions get to me in that situation which usually doesn't happen. I twasn't a big deal, it was just competly disrespectful and unproffesional. NO idea how somebody could get away wtih that without a talk, so Iguess the manger talked to him. The trainer came up to me later and said not to hate him, "it's all business." Yeah, I know as soon as I told him I couldn't pay he probaly lost interest, but that's not my problem. He just wasn't oprofessional, and it made him look bad. Guess I should have felt more bad than angry.

Re: [Madness Writers] RE: [Madness Writers] Re: [Madness Writers] 2/23/2012 05:30:00 PM

bring down one of your sticks,

i might buy a new blade.  smashed the one against the boards cuz my teammates sucked the one game, cracked the bottom a little, still good to use, gonna put some super glue on it to ensure its still good.

we'll see.  playin next wednesday i think. if i get drafted in teh good league.  4 teams in each league now.  too easy.

B league sucks.  people arent very good, its too slow.

i made some fuckin insane passes last night.  coming up RW, getting chased by a decent kid on teh other team (was on my team then got put on another team for no reason), im too fast and too good at protecting the puck , come up to the D, wasnt really even a deke as much as a dribble to the right, another D there, i got left a little, then bakchand it through his skates DIRECTLY to teammates stick in teh slot, wide open.  even i was surprised, teammate let it bounce to the right instead of holding the puck on his stick (wasnt a hard pass at all).  no chance, i was disappointed that he didnt have a chance.

i was making my teammates look really good last night.  cant iamgine the A games, im gonna be the low guy on the totem pole.

we were taking 2 min shifts, first half of the game i wasnt hurting, wasnt playing all that hard either.  2nd half, losing, i was doing everything i could to get the lead back.

not with a traffic cone in net though.

basicallyu giving goals for no reason, especially the first one.

did some workouts, got some tight abs.

im lookin uop things to do in New Orleans. go to the French Quarter, not that exciting after a while.  cant really think of anything eklse.

my grad school class, the worse of an effort I exert, teh better grade I get.  i dotn get it man.  its pretty obvious too when im not citing sources and putting in more opinion than fact.

curious to know what i get on this last paper.  basically a Free A for the class.

cant imagine not getting straight A's in this program. definitely not "easy" but i wouldnt say its ridiculously hard.

haha, traffic cone in net. I'd say use that stick, too. Too many amateur goalies don't use their sticks, leave their 5 holes open.

gotta work

my left shoulder was feeling weird at the gym , couldn't do lateral raises without discomfort so I called it a day.. it was the last workout for the routine, anyway. Might be from pushing myself too hard on the shoulder raise machine. I'm done using those pulley systems except for the rear deltoids. pulley machines are way too hard on the body. The stand alone pulleys are good, though.

Re: [Madness Writers] 2/23/2012 05:30:00 PM

holy shit, hi heard people talkin about putting carter with the richards, how that'd be ideal.  i thought that was just fantasy talk.

no way man, johsnon AND a first rounder?  well i guess this years draft sucks but still, cant be taht bad.

cryers gonna get hosed for making those shitty trades last year.  what idiots.  effectively killed their chances at a cup, Bryz, hahahahahahahahahahhaha
\

tryin to get quarters todayu, hjve an appointment at 930 for my stress test and echo results, gonna be negative cuz its nto my heart, its my lungs,.

we'll see, right nowi  want quarters to get some rest.

hockey...eh, my legs were burning the last period.

first shfit of the game my linemates, a shitty girl and usually our third center, pretty good, even though its his first full season.

i had 3 or 4 somewhat breakaways, Dman in the  middle as I'd come up the RW side.    shot first time, just missed TR, hit the post/net.  2nd time i saw the girl WIDE open in high slot, pass, almost scored.  she sucks but i make her look good.  that first shift she kept putting the puck dowt he boards from corner, always to me.  perfect positioning by both.

3rd time i faked the shot and passed to high slot to good guy, not sure what happened.  he's a right, pass coming from his right, threw him off just enough.

4th time drop pass high left slot. crash the net.  almost.

lost 3-0.  goalie comes out to get the puck or it'd be a breakaway, completely misses the puck, wide open goal.

next two were fuckin 5 holes. while the puck is in the crease bobblin around.  GOT THE FUCK DOWN.  i kept telling the teammates and other taem, take the fricken leg pads off him and giev us an extra attacker, cuz right nowe we have a traffic cone in net.

they scored a 4th, guess how?  5 hole, but apparently someone was in the crease, no dice.  i was pissed. that was at least the 3rd goal while I was out there.  one, im not backchecking if Im behind the oppsoing net, im not wasiting energy when i have 4 teammates.  2) USE YOUR FUCKIN LEG PADS.

had a graet chance in the third.  wide open net, rebound off goalie, im getting slashed in the crease, backhand it, goalie made a diving arm save.

had another soemwhat breakaway, teammate stole the puck at point on an oppsoing rush, i was in the slot, he passes to me, turn, kinda fell, hit the goalie's chest, rebound.  layin on hte ice and whacked at it, but hit his foot and went wide.

one point i yelled "WHJAT THE FUCK" cuz the referee called me offsides, i was coming back to neutral from the O zone, puck crossed the line as my feet were on the line, i thought i was onside, he said off.

teammates said off.  but i dont know, really close, to me it looked onsides. my skates were in the blue, out of the O zone, when the puck went in.  unless you have to be completely in the neutral zone, thast not offsides.  could be wrong.

anotehr time a teammate passed the puck, hits my skates as im on the blue line in a rush, crosses the line (no idea which crossed first), they called iot offsides.  i didnt argue cuz i wasnt sure but teammates said it was onside.

worst calls: near the end two guys going for the puck behind the net. opposing D, all i saw was him hit the boards and fall to the ice.  then the othe team booin.  after some crying the ref puts his hand up.  woman on our team, the good player, says "Youi dont even know what you're gonna call"..i was like :yeah, not even sure what penalty that was."  must have been boarding, but i didnt see it.

2nd worst. they ice it from in between theri D Blue and Red line.  no icing...woman says "Come on" as she was going back to get it, cuz she figured it was icing.  prety obvious it was.

she gets it, we do our rush, teammate hits the puck ON THE RED LINE and its icing, while an opposing D attempted to play the puck.  terrible call.

goalie sucked.  other goalie is the best in the league.  the first half the season goalies played on any team, we were 3-0.  then we got stuck with teh shitty goalie after they decided to make a goalie a "teammate", lost pretty much every game since.  1-3-13 or something.

— the Penguins play the Rangers, Devils and Bruins twice each late in the season and will face the Flyers three more times

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, 2003 article on 2004 draft pick, pretty much all about ovechkin.  "He is compared by some to Ilya Kovalchuk, except that he has far superior passing ability and no issues with defense."  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHA

He was born Sept. 17, 1985, two days after the cutoff date to be part of the 2003 draft class.

Florida General Manager Rick Dudley attempted in four different rounds to draft Ovechkin, arguing that, if leap-year dates were taken out of the equation, Ovechkin actually would turn 18 four days before his recognized birthday and thus have been eligible for 2003
..haha

orpik didnt play agaisnt the rangers? no he didn't.   dAMNNNNNNN.

what a game.
