(x^2 -1) / x+1 = 4. which is greater, x or 4?



well, x can only equal 5 so x is greater than 4.. but this answer says x can equal -1. NO IT CANT. -1 + 1 = 0 AND YOU CAN'T DIVIDE BY 0 the last time I checked my math knowledge. So how does this make sense?
