we sat outside for 10 min at 7:15.   it was probably 70 or so, but the sun was going away.  felt really nice.

then i went inside and man, too fricken hot with jeans and a t-shirt.  that humidity is killer.

overall, from pwoer rankings, its #1 pens, #2 blues.   most have flyers at 3 (well, guess they dont, but thats where I'd put em).  some dont. hilarious that detroit isnt even mentioned anymore.  as they shouldnt.

i'd say rags are similar to the flyers, probably a little worse.  i dont know tho, on paper I'd say rags are better.

blues have a shot at the cup.  vancouver is the only team, gonna be a great WCF and ECF.  hopefully pens and criesr dont finish 4th and 5th.  rags and criers in first round.  is ideal.  let em tire themselves out.

i'd argue chemistry is a result of great coaching.  coaches know who work well together and let them play together.  thats why crosby is on teh third line with that Pylon TK.  what a waste.

a month ago I had a Western team winning.  now I'd say its an eastern team.

but there's injuries in teh West.  one rank commentator said the canucks realize they have 2nd locked in and arent usng all their energy since they had that Cup run last year.  No idea what that even means.  first, they dont have 2nd locked in.  and 2, they get a lot of time off in teh summer.  4 weeks extra doesnt make that much of a difference physically.  perhaps mentally, but these are professionals.  if u dont love your sport you wouldnt be there.  and you have all your best friends around you, thats motivation.  the chemistry.

but coaching is where championships are made.

Total power ranking points based on ranked position from 10 differnet sources.. Didnt' even realize there were that many, thought there were only 5 or so.

Pens (1+5+2+3+1+1+1+5+1+1) 21 = 2.1

Rangers(6+2+5+2+3+5+5+3+4+3) 3.8

Blues (2+1+1+1+2+3+2+1+3+2) 1.8

Flyers (3+8+9+6+9+2+4+7+7+7) 6.2

Nashville (4+6+3+7+5+4+3+6+5+4) 4.7

canucks (7+3+4+5+4+9+8+9+2++6) 5.7

the 6th rating is the most up to date, i think, definitely the most accurate iwth pens #1, flyers #2.

So in the overall power rankings, we have Blues, Pens, Rangers, Nashville, Canucks, Flyers. (My ranking would be Pens, Rangers, Flyers, Canucks, Blues, Nashville. Nashville has the better D by far over the Blues, but somehow the Blues have managed to keep both of their goalie's GAA and Save % really low/high, respectively. I'd maybe throw the Canucks in b tween the Rangers and Flyers, doesn't rreally matter.)

Pens are never above 5th, Blues never above 3rd. Seriously, though, who would vote for the Blues to win? Seriously, here. Nobody.

"Of all the numbers that can make a case for Malkin to win the Hart Trophy, his faceoff numbers get overlooked. He's won 47 percent of draws, a career high, and taken 1,049 faceoffs after never taking more than 890 in a season." I dont know about that. 47% isn't bad, but it's no 55% of Toews.

Yeah, I was thinking about Babcock and coaches in general, wondering how they would do with an inferior squad. Obviously, with a superior squad a coach's win % would be inflated at least marginally, but the coaching is what makes the difference between championships and no playoffs. I remember watching a video of an older Hurricane who won the Cup in 2006 who said that team chemistry is the most ipmortant determining factor. I call bullcrap. Coaching is the single most important aspect, in my opinion.

Sucks you gotta work night shift. I have this weekend off, supposed to rain all weekend. high 70s/80 degrees today and tomorrow, of course i work both day. haha, ah well. Sitting in the sun when its 75o r higher, doesn't matter on the humidity, you will feel hot within 5 minutes.
