Some things I forgot to point out: Dallas and Chicago were rated pretty highly in some of them.. I think Dallas was 3rd in one of the rankings.. no way, man. Chicago was as high at 4 or 5 in some of them. Ottawa was 9th or worse.
I'd say Rangers are better than Flyers, though it's close. Dumbquist is better than Bryz. Flyers D was better, I think Meszaros got hurt and is out 6-8 weeks, so they're definitely done.
http://www.examiner.com/sports-in-detroit/nhl-power-rankings-for-april-1 From Last APril.. Nucks and Bruisn #1 and 2. Pens 8th. no Tampa in the top 15 and they got to the COnference Finals.
http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/sabres-nhl/nhl-power-rankings/article383109.ece This one has Nucks #1, Bruins #8, Pens #5.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/374097-carters-nhl-power-rankings-april-5-tippett-leads-jack-adams-race From 2010 April, Caps were #1 hahaha. Blackhawks 2nd, Nucks 3rd. Dang, Flyers were 12th and made it to the Finals. Pens 9th, yeah their D sucked.
I'd take your argument a step further and say that coaches put certain linemates together based on what they see in practice in terms of how each teammate works together on the team strategy. Bylsma is constantly shifting lines, though, which works really well to throw off opposing defense/coaching.
It's not gonna be a great ECF. Whoever wins the series between the Pens/Rangers/Flyers in the first/second round is going to the Finals, depending on how those teams do between now and the end of the season..
Actually, you're wrong. Nucks do have 2nd locked. All they gotta do is win like 3 games., maybe 4 at most, out of 10. Doesn't take al ot of energy to do that. Their closest division competitor is 11 points behind wtih one more game played, and the southern division (whatever it's called) is 11 points behind as well. No way they're not getting 2nd. they could get 1st but they'd have to win 3 more games than the Blues. Could but wont' happen.
