hahaha

As a massive NASCAR fan, some of the fans piss me off. I'm talking your sterotypical redneck beer drinking nascar fan. I was at a race one time, this guy was yelling the entire time, flipping off the cars and passed out drunk by lap 50.

----

played two games of nhl before work.

first guy wanted chicago..thats my team. so he took the west all star team.  Ill take east.

fire a shot from slot, juicy rebound back to same spot, Phaneuf with the rebound, skate right to left, shoot top R..pretty much a straight shot from the position.  nothing but net.

then i pass the puck to the low right corner of the blue line O zone from D zone.  guy tries to hit me (he's along the boards, too, closer to the net side), no idea why he didnt pin me, i get away, makes it basically a two on 0.  pass to left.  goalie has it covered.  NOPE.  puck slides in.  guy quits.  too easy.  and THAT folks is why you play a fundamental game.

second game.  guy is decent. 0-0 going into the third.  ive taken about 7 one timers from the RD position, either D to D passes or from opposite corner.  3 of these were on one possession in about 5 seconds, haha.    beginning of thrid, booom, perfect screen by F.

guy gets a few decent opportunities, but my D is too good.  even had a breakaway with 50 seconds left, I couldnt seal the deal.

then with 20 seconds goalie makes a save on his ass, he decides to pass it.  i get it center slot, shoot it.  goalie makes a desperation save, hits his stick and slides home.  guy quits.  almost to lvl 58.

two things.  one is to never take D out of position. sometimes it happens, and usually when its a loose puck and ICE TILT decides other team gets it...happens a lot along the boards behind the net for some reason. with D specifically sometimes its better to give them posession on a loose puck rather than risking it.

two, play calmly, with good focus.  i never get worried.  i might be losing 2-0...unless the game is clearly favoring the other person, im not out.  that one guy was swinning 3-0 about 10 min in, off three deflections. one or two deflected off my guys.  i was in perfet position on all three goals.  nothing i can do about that.

and another thing, dont take players out of position in the D zone.  dont chase the puck.  if they're in the corner, let em have it. stay between em and the net, and make sure if they try to skate into the slot they dont have any shots/lanes.  too easy.
i try to let the AI take control of D on an opponent rush, and bring one of the F's down to cover the slot for when the opponent will try to stop and either skate back then into the slot or pass across the slot. works, if not every time, then 99% of the time.

game is too easy man.  its all about playing a fundamental game.  not overdoing things, not getting aggressive, not getting emotional about it.

some guys are really good, but i havent played too many of em.  they try to exploit you over committing on D in the D zone.  its so easy to do against lesser foes.  skate one with with the puck carrying D, then immediately go the other to get a good slapper from the point.  or pass to the other D.  pass up to corner if nothing available.

toe dragging works well to get good shots without getting poke checked.
