The main reason EA added the one-touch deke system was to make dekes more accessible. The loose puck deke system, which is still in the game, requires you to plan your move in advance. The new system is much easier to use in a read-and-react situation. If you can tell the defender is going in for a big hit, you can quickly deke out of the way. This makes stickhandling more of a game within the game.

The other big change in goal scoring is EA wants the players to be rewarded more often for reading the goalie and shooting in the right spot. With this, it definitely takes skill to pass/skate/dangle/etc in the zone while looking at your players, D, G, and figuring out if tehre's a screen or an open lane and what side the G is leaning towards and deciding on whether to go for a slapper, wrister, pass, more skating, etc.

the good players definitely do it, but most people really look to get yopu to overcommit with a F and then have the open play with the D...it works all the time against all shitty players.  anotehr thing is to adapt to the opponent's play style.   really, stay in between puck and goal, while looking to block passing and shooting lanes.  the people who exploit, well, just gotta hope you can stay in those lanes, cant do much about it...doesnt happen often to play thsoe fags though.

most people I skate around without n trying very hard.

The size differential requires you to play the game a different style if you are in control of a smaller team like the Montreal Canadiens or a large team like Chara's Bruins.

One NHL developer spent almost all year working to improve the cripplingly slow menu navigation. GM Connected now runs at a much faster speed comparable to what you see in the front end of the offline Be A GM mode.  hopefulyl the whoe game menu is improved.

Less offsides on passes near the blueline. Now, the receiver will turn to face the pass rather than pull back to their generic stance and inadvertently go offside.   hopefully the better pivoting fixes mroe than just this.
